How cute am I?

Arlo got a new t-shirt yesterday. I bought it from my favorite on-line store, Hip-Doggie. They have the coolest stuff! I never thought I would be a person to dress my dog in clothes but I guess you can say, "Never say never".

Playdate

Everyone has a morning ritual, right? Arlo's ritual is to torture my cat, Patch. I use to think he hated this new creature who joined the family. But now I think he enjoys it. Every single day Arlo chews on him, bites him, runs circles around him and generally beats up on Patch. And Patch just lays there on the the floor meowing every now and then. Sometimes Patch will put Arlo in a head lock just to show him who's the boss. Makes me laugh every time.

Budding Photographer

My 2 year old neice, Isabelle took a couple of pictures on Monday. She quite the little photographer (when she wasn't letting her finger get in the way.)

Just Jack

Doesn't my nephew look like Scuba Steve? He is a ball of energy. Where do kids get that energy from? I wish I had half that energy - think of what you could get done in a day.

Minnie updates

Arlo is not the little puppy any more. He is quite an adolescent. He runs away from me when he knows he doing something naughty, like stealing my socks. I have to give him an old sock in the morning just so I can put the clean ones on my feet. Otherwise he is doing great. He knows how to walk on the leash as well as sit, down, stay and come. He's a smart cookie.

And I'm excited to have a new puppy in the house. My breeder, Merrit sent me new puppy pictures of Minne. She is adorable. Summer should be fun with a new puppy and my friend and neighbor Jill is having a baby.

Exciting things!

Dinner & Dish

Usually at night, Arlo and I hole-up and watch TV. He'll curl into a tight little ball on my shoulder and neck while I'm stretched out on the couch. Last night was Dinner & Dish so Arlo didn't get as much quality time with me. He was a little sad but I'm sure he will get over it.

I get together with some girlfriends at least once a month. We pick a date and place and put it on the calendar. I think Liz dubbed it Dinner & Dish. We get together and catch up, counsel each other, support each other, eat a ton of food, drink a ton of wine or beer and generally enjoy each other's company. I probably don't say it enough but I really do have the best friends and I'm so glad for all their support. Life is good.

Arlo's friend Bo...

My sister has a Mastiff named Bo. He is the best dog. For someone with kids, this is the kind of dog you want. He can take the rough housing and he has a great temperment. He has never reacted to any of the kids or their craziness around him. He is quite the "gentle giant".

Fleur Pet Hospital

Arlo received the last of his puppy shots last week. He is such a good dog, he didn't even flinch when he got them.

I can not say enough good things about my vet. She is amazing. And I love everyone there. So if you need a good vet, I highly recommend Fleur Pet Hospital in Des Moines. Dr Lisa Williams. You will not find a better vet to take care of your pets.

So much for figuring out the stairs...

After a busy day at my sister's house, Arlo and I came home exhausted. I wish I could figure out what happened but it happened so fast. One minute I'm at the bottom of the stairs and Arlo is at the top. The next minute Arlo is tumbling down and then SPAT! he's at the bottom.

I could barely move. I watched him get up and shake it off. He seemed to be alright. I think I was more stunned than he was. I checked him over. All of his limbs seemed to be fine. He didn't hit his head. I watched him move around and then all of a sudden he jumped up to play with the cat.

None-the-less, I woke up every two hours to be sure he was still ok and took him to the vet the very next day. It's still scary thinking about what could have happened.

Minnie

Arlo is getting a little sister. He has been so much fun and I think he needs a playmate. He is constantly trying to play with my cat, Patch. And Patch, while a good sport, is thinking, "Leave me alone, kid."

Arlo's little sister is named Minnie. She is a fawn chihuahua and cute as can be. She was born on

March 7th, 2007. I can't wait to bring her home.

and they all go tumbling down...

This is a blog about my puppy named Arlo Guthrie who is named in honor of the folk singer. He is a sweet pup and I'm so happy to have him.

This weekend he finally figured out how to climb down the stairs. Exciting as it is, I now have to keep my eye on him constantly.
