Summertime
What a nice weekend it was! Arlo and I spent plenty of time outside watching baseball games and playing with Bo. I even got in trouble for bringing Arlo to one of the games. A mean guy came up to me and told me they don't allow dogs at the park. Fine - I get it. Next time I'm bringing Arlo in his dog bag.

Supersize
It's interesting to me that when I take Arlo places and people try to pet him or hold him, he shies away or he comes right back to me. People make the comment what a spoiled dog he is. I think they mean this in a good way. I don't think anyone is saying it to be harsh.
If they would think about it, they would actually realize how absurd that is. Imagine you are 4 lbs. and a GIANT reaches down toward you - What would you do? Is the GIANT going to eat you? Step on you? Pet you? You just don't know. So you run back to the one thing that is safe.
Arlo doesn't bark. He doesn't bite and he is a happy dog. Chihuahuas bond very closely with one person and I'm sure it's because they are so small and they have to rely on that one person to care for them.

Dog house
I love some of the dog houses I have found on line. Some of them are quite creative. One of my favorite sites is www.bungalouies.com. And www.thehautehound.com has some cute ones too. If they weren't so expensive I would get this one.

Play Ball
Arlo spent the weekend at the ball park. My nephew Johnathan had games this weekend, so I packed up Arlo and off we went. All of Johnathan's teammates thought Arlo was "so cute" or "cool" which was in compete contrast to all the dads who thought chihuahuas aren't real dogs. What happens between the age of 9 and 3o?

Arlo's kennel
Arlo's kennel has been taken over by Maxie Cat. The last few mornings I wake up to find Max sleeping in Arlo's kennel. And Arlo doesn't know what to do. When I take my shower in the morning, Arlo typically goes in his kennel to sleep a little longer. Well that's not an option now since Max is so big and fat he takes up the whole space, not that he would share anyway. It's quite a dilemma.

FURminator
I went shopping this weekend and finally broke down and bought the FURminator. IT IS AWESOME!! For those of you who don't know what it is - It is the best comb for brushing out your dog/cat's undercoat. I know you are thinking a comb is a comb. But I am not kidding when I say this is the best comb ever!! I would not have believed it if my vet had not used it on my cat Max. Max is a very hairy cat with a lot of undercoat. And he is the type of cat when you pet him all kinds of hair comes off and it's not very enjoyable if you are going to be covered in hair while you are petting a lovable guy like him. So I bought it. I used it. Max is happier, I am happier and my couch is happier.
Check out the FURminator's website and see for yourself.

Paper Chase
Arlo has a weird fetish. He likes paper. He likes to shred toilet paper, newspaper or anything with a paper consistency. One day I came home to find toilet paper covering the bathroom floor. And I'm not talking a little bit - I'm talking the whole, jumbo, brand new roll.
But Arlo's favorite paper product is those little paper things you find in magazines. You know, the magazine subscription postcards. Those are his favorite. Anytime I sit down to read a magazine he is right there waiting for me to hand him a postcard.
Little known fact - those little postcard/inserts you find in magazines are called blow-ins.
